Jean Blakeway thought she was going out for lunch at Sea Shanty with some relatives for her 90th birthday, but was surprised when she got there that many friends and residents from Lakes Entrance Retirement Village were also there to celebrate her milestone.
Jean has lived at the village for the past 19 years having moved there in 2004.
“I enjoy living there, but also like to be an independent person,” she said.
“It was so lovely to see such a group come along to celebrate with me.”
Jean grew up in Mallacoota where her home was at Gypsy Point. She has been married twice and has four children. She was a hairdresser for many years until her retirement.
