The best weekend of 2024, that’s what the Mountain Cattlemen are promising when they hold their annual Get Together.
Scheduled for October 18-20 in Omeo, the Get Together has been running for more than 40 years and will see families, friends and horse enthusiasts all gather for three days of live entertainment and fun.
“This is about putting on a great weekend for all ages,” president of the Mountain Cattlemen’s Association of Victoria (MCAV), Cass McCormack, said.
“We have everything from free kids novelties to live forums, motorbike stunt shows to horse events.”
The annual Get Together is being held at 57 Faithfulls Access Road Omeo, and the gates will open to the public at 9am on Friday, October 18.
“Friday is all about our up and coming riders,” Cass said.
“We have horse events all day, including novelties, before we move into the serious challenge events on the Saturday.”
For the first time in almost 10 years the MCAV will run as a wild brumby catch as their final horse event, a sure way to thrill the crowd and test riders abilities.
“Running the Get Together at Omeo we knew we had to incorporate wild horses somehow,” Cass said.
“Omeo is famous for its brumbies and we wanted to acknowledge that.”
Along with the horse events the Get Together has free kids novelties, a kids disco, heritage displays, political discussions, poetry competitions, photography and lots more.
“It’s really about putting on a show for all ages and all interests, at a price families can afford,” Cass said.
“And what makes it even better is the MCAV is a not for profit – any monies raised go back in to High Country management.”
Tickets for three days, including camping and all entertainment, cost $190 per adult. Children 17 and under are free.
