With the closure of another banking facility in Lakes Entrance, businesses and the local community are up in arms at the non-negotiable situation abruptly put upon them.
The Bendigo Bank has announced it will close the agency operating out of Lakes Books and Games on June 30 this year.
Agency principal Elaine Medhurst is left wondering how her customers will cope. With most being in the older demographic, still with pass-books, she said they do not trust cards and do not use the internet.
Ms Medhurst, who has been operating the Bendigo agency out of Lakes Books and Games for the past 17 years describes the decision as a shock to not only herself but her staff and all the loyal customers that have put their trust in Bendigo Bank.
“With no consultation the Bendigo Bank has decided to close the Lakes Entrance agency after some 40 years,” she said.
