Road safety upgrades are currently underway to seal a 5.4-kilometre section of Scriveners Road from Armstrong Track to Colquhoun Road, near Lakes Entrance.
Federal Member for Gippsland, Darren Chester, secured $415,000 when he was Minister for Infrastructure and Transport from the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program, to install guide posts, chevron alignment markers, advanced warning signs, culvert extensions, driveable endwalls, pavement reconstruction, widen formation and remove vegetation.
The road is well known to locals and has a dangerous history of accidents.
“Safer roads can help prevent deaths and injuries on our roads and I am proud to have secured Federal Government money that has allowed East Gippsland Shire council to expand the scope of their roads safety works program,” Mr Chester said.
“Better roads also help boost productivity for businesses across Gippsland and can help attract more visitors to travel to our beautiful part of Australia to enjoy its attractions.”
