A huge weekend of Gippsland Country Basketball League action is ahead for the Lakes Entrance Pelicans, with the men playing a double header taking on Bairnsdale and Moe, while the women will take on Moe on Sunday at home.
Both sides have had a week off to refocus and get ready for the final three rounds of the competition.
The men will go into Saturday night’s local derby with Bairnsdale at the Bairnsdale Aquatic Recreation Centre at 5pm still high on confidence after claiming the scalp of Maffra 10 days ago.
The Pelicans currently sit on seventh place on the ladder with two wins and for the first time in many seasons will go into a weekend double header with realistic hopes of winning both matches, scheduled against Bairnsdale (11th) and Moe (ninth).
The match against the Bullets has been gaining plenty of interest locally, the sides going head-to-head to determine who is the best local team.
Sunday will see the Pelicans battle the Meteors, with the women’s match commencing at 11am, followed by the men’s at 1pm.
The women will be looking for a much-improved performance at home after being involved in a several one-sided matches this season.
