The competitive Gippsland Bowls Region Superleague again claimed a ladder leader, with Lakes Entrance 1 becoming the latest side to slide after going down to reigning premier Bairnsdale in a thrilling encounter.
Lakes Entrance 1 was victorious in two of three rinks but went down in a contest where momentum fluctuated all afternoon, 56-59.
Lakes Entrance 1 dropped from first to fourth on the table, with Lindenow now occupying top spot.
Narrow winners for Lakes 1 were Julie Simpson, Daniel Roberts, Scott Davidson, Daffy Rawlings (22-20) and Tim Anketell, Bill Rowley, Glenn Barker and Kevin Brown (22-20).
It was a better result for Lakes Entrance 2 who returned to form and as a result moved from fifth to second on the ladder, easily eclipsing Sale 2 on the road, 70-37.
Michael Bratt, Johannes Kool, Maurie Carroll and Harley Johnson were in sensational form, putting on a clinic, winning 30-9, well supported by Jeff Wilson, Boyd McPhee, Clement and Lillibeth Hochkins, victorious 24-9.
It was a tough weekend for Lakes Entrance in division two, with both sides being defeated.
Lakes Entrance 3 dropped to second in the rankings, with an agonising 59-60 defeat against Bairnsdale, who seized top spot.
Lakes 3 was successful in two rinks, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to secure the major points.
Ian Morris, Alan Light, Bob Lucas and Samuel Berlingeri were again impressive winning 22-14, with Lee Burt, Stan Short, Ronald McKay and Charles Lesiw also solid winners 21-16.
Lakes 4 was unable to back up last week’s performance, going down to Bairnsdale 70-48.
Max Towan, Roy Roberts, Colin Grassby and Kenneth Melville salvaging a rink, 19-15 in a gallant performance.
In division three, Lakes Entrance 5 registered its second win of the season, beating Howitt Park 48-35.
Wim Pennings, Suzanne Light, Jeanette Rowley, Tony Spinks (21-14), and Ian Gray, Angelo Alonso, Meryn Pratt and Gary Lewis (27-21) all winners in a morale-boasting victory.
Lakes Entrance 6 was defeated by Bairnsdale 48-34, with Margo Short, Rhonda O’Neill, Leslie Gersbach and Dennis Olivia, saluting 17-15 to split the rinks.
