Australia’s fastest growing community sport, pickleball is not only a game but it’s a connector, bringing people together from different walks of life for exercise and banter.
Lakes Entrance pickleball regulars Beck Thompson and partner Ken Marsh recently took a trip to Kendall, on the mid north coast of New South Wales, enjoying a hit on their travels.
Two years ago Beck’s father, Bob Thompson, introduced pickleball to the Kendall Tennis Club for the first time.
Sadly, Bob passed away not long after the game’s commencement.
Such is the popularity of pickleball, Kendall now has six courts and some 70 players who take to the courts regularly.
Beck and Ken took time to mix in and play with the locals, as well as reminisce about the exploits of Bob.
