Swan Reach Hockey Club celebrated Indigenous Round with a home fixture against Orbost at the WORLD Sports Centre in Bairnsdale.
Swan Reach now shares the facility with Nagle Hockey Club, the club’s players now benefitting from playing on a synthetic surface instead of wet and sodden grass which is often the case in winter.
The Swan Reach women’s side celebrated the day by wearing indigenous socks, with a club member performing a Welcome to Country before the start of the under 16 match.
Swan Reach currently has seven sides in the East Gippsland Hockey Association, scoring victories over Orbost on Saturday in the under 14s (4-0), under 16s (10-0) and women’s (1-0).
Orbost was victorious in the under 10s (2-0) and under 12s (5-1).
Unfortunately Orbost forfeited the under 18s and open matches.
