Twice a week you can hear the drop saw and drills at work, the dust extractor quietly humming, the sweep of a broom, the sound of laughter from the shed.
There’s usually lively conversation and a cuppa at half time.
Along with the sawdust and offcuts, there’s a sense of friendship and common purpose too.
That’s life for the Shed Quarters team at Gippsland Lakes Complete Health in Jemmeson Street, Lakes Entrance.
The men work on toys, furniture and other timber projects for GLCH clients and the public and turn suitable timber offcuts into kindling for wood heaters.
New shelving and storage are now being installed, while outside there’s a raised veggie garden that last season turned out tomatoes, capsicum and cabbage variety kohlrabi (which the men insist make excellent chips).
