Fantastic.
There is no other way to describe New Year’s Eve in Lakes Entrance – the fireworks were brilliant, the weather perfect, while happy and relaxed visitors and locals were out to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
From early in the evening there was a sea of people on the esplanade foreshore enjoying picnics, relaxing with family and friends listening to live music and strolling through the market stalls. The carnival was in full swing with even more families enjoying the attractions.
Closing of sections of Myer Street and the Esplanade enhanced a street party atmosphere allowing the crowds to spill into the hospitality venues and shops.
President of the Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association (LEADA), Alison Brewer, thought it was the biggest crowd ever seen on a New Year’s Eve in the town.
“Everyone was in great spirits, and they loved getting back to the tradition of the fireworks in Lakes Entrance,” she said.

After bushfire and COVID scuppered the past three New Year’s celebrations on the town’s esplanade, it was once again back up and pumping with the fireworks the cherry on top of a great foreshore event.
