Metung Shaving Point is set for a huge facilities upgrade.
East Gippsland Shire Council has received a State Government grant worth $577,000 to redevelop facilities at the boat ramp with the existing concrete dual-lane ramp, jetties and floating pontoons to be replaced, while work to reduce sand build-up will also be undertaken, making launching and retrieving easier and reduce the frequency of required maintenance.
Minister for Fishing and Boating, Melissa Horne, visited the site – one of East Gippsland’s most popular boat launching areas – last Wednesday to announce the funding.
“These grants will ensure ramp managers have the funds to upgrade and maintain their facilities, also benefiting the thousands of Victorians who use them each year by improving accessibility and enhancing safety,” Minister Horne said.
The minister also visited the Apex Park boat ramp in Lakes Entrance, which will be improved to provide better access to boaters of all abilities.
