Yet again Eastern Beach Road residents have had their properties inundated with floodwater during the last East Coast Low rainfall and they have been pleading for something to be done about it for many years.
The major problem is a drain running behind the homes on the northern side which cannot cope with the amount of water channeled into it during heavy rain events.
Jean and Ron Guy have been living in their home on Eastern Beach Road for over 50 years and have tried hard to get the East Gippsland Shire Council to do something about the flooding.
“Many of the houses, including ours, were here before the drain was built,” Ron said.
“Over the years we have seen more and more water diverted into the trench, the Shire had millions to build the Eastern Creek, but nothing changed this end.”
