Hospitality crisis ongoing

by Lakes Post
7 April 2022
in Local News

The hospitality staffing crisis Victoria is being felt across East Gippsland, including some of the region’s key tourist destinations situated along the Gippsland Lakes.
In Lakes Entrance, the Central Hotel, locat-ed on the Esplanade, is “screaming out” for a range of hospitality staff but are “struggling” to fine employees.
Alison Murphy who owns the establishment with her husband, Tyson, says the situation has been dire since the coronavirus pandemic forced hospitality venues to close their doors.
Despite advertising, Ms Murphy says positions in management, bistro service and the bar are left waiting.
“I just put an ad on Facebook and got a couple of resumes for housekeeping, but one didn’t even show up for the interview,” she said.
