“We can all understand the need for another lockdown, but it was certainly short notice,” was the comment from Lakes Entrance Action and Development Association (LEADA) president, Bruce Hurley.
At 11am on Saturday, Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, announced regional Victoria would go into lockdown from 1pm.
“Events like the Lakes Entrance Farmers’ Market were in full swing and were getting good support from the community,” Mr Hurley said, who felt the timing with only two hours notice was a shock to many businesses, particularly those in the middle of lunch service.
“2pm would have been preferable allowing businesses to give notice to their permanent and part time staff and lunch venues to allow meals to be finished,” he said.
Alison Murphy, from the Central Hotel, was expecting the announcement.
