After being given the tick of approval at East Gippsland Shire Council’s ordinary meeting on October 2, 2018, Lakes Entrance is still waiting for the off leash dog park at 43 Palmers Road to be completed.
Council officers undertook public consultation via a ‘your say’ survey to ascertain the community’s preference between two potential sites in Lakes Entrance.
The survey resulted in 124 responses with 103 responses in favour of a dog off leash area being established.
The site 43 Palmers Road, Lakes Entrance, was the overall preferred location.
A fence has been erected, but there is still much work to be done with the grounds due to its position.
“The project has been impacted by muddy conditions, a result of works starting followed by rainfall,” Fiona Weigall, general manager assets and environment commented.
“Council is adding soil to create a slope so the site drains more efficiently in the future,” she added.
