The Oncology Unit at the Bairnsdale hospital received a $720 donation towards their Care Packs for patients from the Metung Bloodhounds last week.
Bloodhound members Jean Russell and Gayle Stuart-Murray presenting the cheque to the Day Oncology Unit manager Wendy Churchill and Kirsty Taylor. Kirsty is one of two nurses who work in the Symptom Urgent Review Clinic (SURC).
The SURC team manages new patient education and distributes the Care Packs.
Each care bag contains a supply of skin creams, non-scented body wash, mouth washes and other necessary items that help to alleviate any side effects experienced during the patient’s chemotherapy treatment.
Metung Bloodhounds proudly support the Bairnsdale Hospital and are currently selling their
‘Bare to Care’ calendars for $20 each at all the local markets.
All proceeds will go directly to the Emergency Department at the hospital.
They are aiming at $40,000 and are currently over halfway there.
