Tambo Upper Primary School students have been back on their bikes for the school’s much-loved annual bike ride, an event that’s become a highlight on the calendar for students, staff and families alike.
This year, riders could choose from three different routes to suit all levels of ability and adventure. The most challenging was a two-day, 70-kilometre overnight ride from the school along the East Gippsland Rail Trail to Tostaree, where students camped at the cottages before returning the next day.
A 25-kilometre Nowa Nowa ride offered another option, with students meeting up with those completing the overnight leg before continuing along the rail trail back to school.
For younger riders and those after a gentler pace, the Lakes Entrance foreshore provided a scenic and relaxed route — with plenty of smiles and sea air along the way.
School principal Mark Chadler said the event has become a cherished tradition at Tambo Upper.
With the bikes packed away for now, attention has turned to another exciting event — the school’s upcoming Fundraiser Gala at the Central Hotel in Lakes Entrance on November 22, set to bring together past and present members of the Tambo Upper community for a night of laughter, live music and support.
The Gala will feature tunes from the Joe Cool Band, a welcome drink on arrival, and a light supper to keep the dance floor moving. Guests will also have the chance to bid on a unique collaborative artwork created by Tambo Upper students — a special piece with proceeds going directly toward school programs.
“It’s going to be a fantastic night,” organisers said.
“We’d love to see as many people there as possible — past students, families and supporters of our wonderful school.”
Tickets are limited, so locals are encouraged to book early.
