Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has praised local business owners Darren and Kristy Penington and their team at Metung Holiday Villas for their ongoing contribution to Gippsland’s thriving visitor economy.
During a visit, Mr Chester toured the popular accommodation business, located in the heart of Metung, and met with the owners to discuss the importance of tourism to the local economy.
“Metung Holiday Villas provides a relaxing retreat for visitors to the Gippsland Lakes, offering comfortable, family-friendly villas surrounded by native gardens and just a short stroll from the waterfront,” Mr Chester said.
“Local tourism businesses like this are the backbone of our regional economy, creating jobs, supporting other small businesses, and helping to showcase everything Gippsland has to offer.”
Mr Chester said Gippsland’s combination of world-class natural attractions, fresh local produce, and welcoming communities continued to make it one of Victoria’s most popular destinations.
“Gippsland is an incredible place to live, work and holiday,” he said.
“Our local operators do an outstanding job promoting the region and delivering high-quality experiences for visitors from across Victoria, Australia and beyond.”
Mr Chester congratulated the Peningtons for their professionalism and long-term commitment to the region’s tourism sector.
“Well done to Darren and Kristy for your hard work and dedication to growing Gippsland’s visitor economy,” he said.
“Businesses like Metung Holiday Villas play an essential role in building our region’s reputation as a premier tourism destination.”
