Lakes Entrance went down to Paynesville in a high-scoring “B” grade match at St Brendan’s Primary School, despite having only nine players.
Batting first the Seagulls were bowled out in the final over for a competitive 148, highlighted by 56 from skipper Jacob Daly, and supporting knocks from son James (20) and Tully Davis (24).
Lakes Entrance was well placed at 3-128, but disastrously lost 5/20.
In reply, Paynesville looked in dire straits at 7/60 after James Daly (4/33) and Eddie Di Fiore (2/45) ripped through the top order, but an unbeaten partnership between Harry Singh (63) and Liam Richards (13), saw the Gulls home with 12 overs to spare.
This week’s match is against Buchan at the Buchan Recreation Reserve.
In the under 13s, the two Lakes Entrance sides played last Friday night at St Brendans, with the White side, coached by Ollie Chaplin, victorious, with man of the match awards going to Chad Richardson and Ben Calleja.
The Maroon side is coached by Scott Tite and the award winner was Eddie Stapleton.
In this week’s matches, the
White side is at home against Meerlieu and the Maroon side heads to Buchan.
