After a massive build up, plenty of practice matches and roll ups, the Gippsland Bowls Region weekend pennant season gets underway this week.
Lakes Entrance will be represented by seven sides in weekend pennant and will have a strong premier side. With clubs only allowed to be represented by one team and Lakes Entrance usually having two sides in the top division, splitting the talent will mean an even stronger side.
The premier league is much more refined and contains Sale, Metung, Lindenow, Maffra, Paynesville, Lakes Entrance, Stratford and Bairnsdale.
With Paynesville having lost several players from last year’s grand final winning combination, Bairnsdale and Sale loom as the sides Lakes Entrance will have to beat.
Lakes will be keen for an early win against the reigning premier in round one, with a lot more known about all eight teams at 5pm this Saturday.
