Lakes Entrance maintained its unbeaten record in the East Gippsland
Football Netball League thirds competition with a convincing victory over Boisdale Briagolong in round nine at the Cabbage Patch.
After an even first quarter, the Seagulls upped the tempo in the second term, kicking three goals to one, opening up a 12-point lead at half time.
With Oscar Hopkins (four goals), Charlie Graham (four), Bill Prior (three) and Tayte Gibbs (two) all running riot in the second half, they kicked 10 goals to three to run out easy 57-point winners.
Among the best players in a solid team performance were Prior, Blake Thomson, Harper Davis, Isaac Zagami, Graham and Hopkins.
A rejuvenated Seagulls outfit took the game right up to the unbeaten Bombers in the reserves, trailing by just two points at quarter time and five points at half time, pleasing coach Steve Cole with their efforts.
“We have been helped by getting a number of senior players back in recent weeks, which assists depth but they were just too good in the second half,” Cole said.
With Bomber spearhead Danny Pratt kicking five goals in his 350th game, the home
side managed eight goals, holding the Seagulls to a couple as they ran out 34-point winners.
James Daly, Kaleb Day, Tim Sinclair, Charlie Goold and Ben Crittenden were the better players for the Seagulls, while Noah Bottom kicked two goals in his return from suspension.
Despite sitting seventh on the ladder, the Seagulls are only four points behind Wy Yung, Lindenow and Orbost Snowy Rovers who occupy places fourth to sixth on the table.
Lakes will host Lucknow this week at the Lakeside Oval.
