Saturday’s Lakes Entrance parkrun was dominated by the Frankston Running Club’s Welsh family who occupied three of the first four finishing places at their first look at the picturesque five kilometre course.

Teenager Emma was the first participant home, running an impressive 19 minutes and 46 seconds.

Father Simon (21.13) was third across the line, while brother Mitchell (21.26) crossed in fourth.

This week’s event saw 42 competitors depart the rotunda at 8am with three personal bests recorded and representatives of five running groups take part.

The weekly event attracts like-minded people and affords the opportunity to walk, jog and run for fun, fitness or both along the impressive Lakes Esplanade.

The event saw representatives from Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Lakes and District Runners, Australia Post Group and Datchet Dashers.

Best times were recorded by Mick Bedford (23.12), Anna Jackson (26.02) and Dallas Riseley (34.08).

The first Lakes Entrance parkrun was conducted on February 3, 2018.

Mike Gilbert celebrated his 25th parkrun as a volunteer last Saturday, having recently clocked up his 100th parkrun as an athletic participant at Bedok Reservoir parkrun in Singapore a few weeks ago. (PS)
