Heat three of the Hood 23 East Gippsland Championship three race series was contested last Saturday at Metung Yacht Club.
The Hood 23 was the foundation boat of the then Metung Sailing Club, that became the Metung Yacht Club, and many stories were told about past races and regattas at the trophy presentation after the event.
There are currently five Hood 23 yachts in the Metung fleet, thanks to a resurgence of interest in this class, and four boats contested race in Bancroft Bay.
The series and race win went to the crew of Compass Rose, with Damien Daniel at the helm and regular crew of Richard Blake and Bryan Carroll, supported in the series by Dick Guinness, John Cameron, Herbert Haes Jnr and Paul Churchman.
Compass Rose is owned by Rod Edwards and Kim Bond.
In Saturday’s race second place went to Krishna, followed by Lolita, then Al Capone.
The series placings saw Compass Rose finish ahead of Krishna, Lolita, Al Capone and Rob N Hood.
