Ten years of beach netball on Lakes Entrance’s Main Beach will be celebrated this weekend.
The annual event has been an integral part of the Lakes Entrance summer holiday period and organisers are expecting strong representation from players and teams across the region for the 10th edition.
“We’re happy to celebrate the 10th anniversary of bringing beach netball to Victoria, a small idea that has grown into something quite fun and challenging,” Lakes Entrance Netball Association’s Kylie Curnow said.
“Over the years we’ve welcomed countless teams and
we appreciate the continued support from those who have been with us since the very beginning.
“It’s fantastic to see not only the players enjoying the competition but also the spectators who come to cheer and soak up the vibrant atmosphere.
“While team registrations are still open, we’re on track to match last year’s turnout of 10 teams, and we can’t wait to see everyone out on the sand.”
Beach netball is fast, suitable for all skill levels, and great for team building. It’s also a great spectator sport.
With modified rules and only four on court at one time, everyone is a goal shooter.
Beach netball is an extension to the traditional game of netball, with the same rules and regulations.
However, the game is played on a half-court marked out in the sand and players are not required to wear shoes.
Teams can be made up of all-female and mixed.
