The next event on the Riviera Triathlon Club calendar is the annual Bridge to Bridge open water swim, which will take place on January 18 from 10am.
The Mitchell River is the venue of the 2.5 kilometre open classic swim event, that begins at Lind Bridge and heads downstream to the Howitt Park Rail Bridge, concluding at the Bairnsdale Rowing Club.
The event is open to solo entrants, or groups of two or three people.
The solo event is open to swimmers 17 years and above, while participants must be 13 years and above to take to the water in a team.
There are three legs in total in the group event, but a swimmer can complete more than one leg.
Leg one is a 600 metre swim from Lind Bridge to the Dog Hole, with leg two a longer one kilometre sojourn to the Port of Bairnsdale, finishing with a 900 metre stretch to the finish.
The event allows wetsuits and importantly swim caps must be worn (preferably a bright colour for visibility).
Swimmers will need to arrange their own transport between the start/finish, with pre-registration highly preferred.
Registration will be available on the day.
