Bowls superstar and former local Barrie Lester is heading home to play and conduct a clinic prior to Christmas.
Lester will play for Lakes Entrance 1 in the final round of Gippsland Bowls Region Weekend Superleague action prior to Christmas, on Saturday, December 21 at the Lakes Entrance Bowling Club, when the club plays Heyfield.
Lester began his career at the Lakes Entrance and now resides in Queensland, making his name as one of the biggest and most successful names in the sport in Australia over the past 20 years.
As part of his return to his roots, he will conduct a junior clinic at the Bairnsdale Bowls Club on Friday, December 20 between 9.30am-noon, where Lester is looking forward to working with the Gippsland Gecko’s squad and any interested junior players.
Lester has strong ties to his roots and always remembers the people who gave him and chance, coaching and assisting, which is one of the reasons he loves coaching junior players.
