The community team behind the pursuit for an outdoor fitness circuit trail in Lakes Entrance are asking the Lakes Entrance community to voice their support behind the project, by voting for it on the Victorianfirst community grants initiative Pick my Project website.
PickMyProject voting is now open until September 17 and the community is encouraged to go to the Pick my Project website and vote for their three favourite project ideas in their local community to help make them a reality.
Fitness trail team members Kevin Barling and Jennifer North OAM, said: “Lakes Entrance is a dynamic community and as a community we want to capitalise on our strengths.”
Lakes Entrance has an existing walking /running path around the town that is popular with residents and tourists. It follows the lakes waterway around the North Arm on Marine Parade and Cunninghame Arm on the Esplanade.
The five fitness hubs are designed to be used by all ages and abilities, with seating and water stations at regular intervals.
Lakes Entrance Fitness Trail will be enjoyed by people that are trying to increase their gen-eral health and wellbeing as well as avid fitness enthusiasts. The equipment is designed and strategically placed to stimulate the senses and interest in the local environment.
The all abilities outdoor fitness hubs and environments (five different hubs) are easily accessible and visible from the popular town lakeside walking circuit and their use will improve the health and wellbeing of residents and visitors. The fitness trail team said the project would support community infrastructure, open space, sport and recreation and relaxation and also link into health and wellbeing programs.
“It will encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors and the many great sights of Lakes Entrance,” the team said.
