It was a disastrous weekend on the greens for the Lakes Entrance teams in the Gippsland Bowls Region weekend pennant superleague competition, winning only a solitary rink between them last Saturday.
Lakes Entrance 2 still remains in second place on the ladder, despite going down 54-61 at home to Sale 1, who sits within striking difference of the top four in seventh place.
Play was tight throughout the afternoon in all three rinks with the highlight for Lakes Entrance 2 being the effort of Michael Bratt, Maurice Carroll, Johannes Kool and Harley Johnson to halve their rink 21-21.
Currently ranked sixth, Lakes Entrance 1 missed an outstanding opportunity to put pressure on the top five, going down 71-52, to 12th ranked West Sale at Wurruk.
Stephen Smith, Daniel Roberts, Bill Rowley and Kevin Brown were again the only winners for Lakes 1, 19-16 victors.
There was no change to the standings in division two, Lakes 4 had a bye, maintaining its hold on fourth place on the table, with Lake 3 remaining in third after halving its match with Bairnsdale 2 due to a washout.
The highlight of the weekend’s bowling from a Lakes Entrance perspective was in division three, where seventh ranked Lakes Entrance 6 was victorious for the second time this season, outplaying third placed, Bairnsdale 4A at home 39-28.
The difference between the two sides being Max Towan, Robyn Auscote, Dennis Olivia and Kenneth Melville who dominated 26-8.
Top side Paynesville 3 scored a clean seep over Lakes Entrance 5, who dropped from fourth to fifth on the table with some work to be done if they are to qualify for the playoffs.
