Defending champion Lakes Entrance continued its outstanding form in Gippsland Bowls Region midweek pennant last week, making it seven wins from eight rounds, outclassing seventh ranked Bairnsdale at home 83-46.
Lakes Entrance sits two games ahead on top of the ladder after the clean sweep, led by Maurice Carroll, Margaret Brandhoj, Bill Rowley and Joanne Martin who were dominant winners 33-9.
Other impressive winners were Mike McKay, Jennifer and Kevin Dowie, Jim
Northe (20-16) and Michael Bratt, Eric Spence, Wallace Mason and Kevin Brown (30-19).
In division two the Lakes Entrance teams went head-to-head and what a match it was, the final result not confirmed until the final end of the day, Lakes 2 prevailing over Lakes 3, 56-55.
Lakes 2 only won the solitary rink, but it was enough to clinch the match, Stephen Adams, Stanley Short, Boyd McPhee and Hayden
Lancaster impressive 23-15 winners.
Winners from Lakes 3 were Max Towan, David Hocking, Peter Taylor, Geoff Rawlings (19-18) and Leslie Gersbach, Joseph Hales, Timmy Anketell and Greg Bertram (21-15).
Lakes 3 dropped from fourth to fifth on the ladder after the loss, with Lakes 2 remaining in sixth, both still in the running for a much sought-after finals berth.
There were mixed results in division three with Lakes 4 continuing its unbeaten season thus far, easily accounting for Howitt Park, while Lakes 5 suffered a disappointing loss to Bairnsdale.
Lakes 4 was a 56-24 victor, Ian Gray, Robert Wilson, John and Carol Hurren carrying on their unbeaten run, successful 23-12, while Dianne Smith, Frank Detering, Heather Todd and John Kimberley were victorious 33-12.
Third-placed Bairnsdale moved a decisive two games clear of Lakes 5 in fourth place after their 44-38, which will make a finals assault difficult.
Robyn Auscote, Margo Short, Sandra Hudson and Ernie Smith put together a good days bowls to win their rink, 21-16.
