Both Lakes Entrance sides are undefeated after round one of the Gippsland Bowls Region Superleague, but only just with Lakes Entrance 1 escaping with a draw against Sale 1.
Lakes Entrance 2 opened the season at home and were much too good for a Heyfield side that contained plenty of big names, Lakes home 77-40 in an impressive start.
Mark Campbell, Kenneth Melville, Jeffrey Wilson and Glenn Barker leading the way, sensational victors, 35-12. Stephen Smith, Lynton Rathjen, Mark Elliott and Wallace Mason got home 21-13 and making it a clean sweep, Michael Bratt, Johannes Kool, Maurice Carroll and Harley Johnson were winners 21-14.
Lakes 1 was victorious in two of the rinks in its 63-63 draw with Sale, winners being Eric Spence, Jim Northe, Margaret Brandhoj, Joanne Martin (31-19) and Mike McKay, Barry Roberts, Bill Rowley and Kevin Brown (21-19). Martin’s inclusion from Paynesville, quickly paying dividends.
In division two, mixed results with Lakes Entrance 3 winners at Howitt Park, but Lakes Entrance 4 went down to Paynesville at home.
Lakes 3 was a 71-48 victor, among the winners were Stephen Adams, Bill Gilbert, Geoffrey Rawlings, Greg Bertram (27-11) and Joseph Hales, Alan Light, Bob Lucas and Samual Berlingeri (26-14).
The only winners for Lakes 4 in its 68-49 demise were Ernie Smith, Ian Morris, David Ramsay and Peter Taylor, 23-18.
In division three Lakes 6 defeated Lakes 5 by 10 shots, 41-31.
The rinks were split, with Lakes 5s Wim Pennings, Jeannette Rowley, Tony Spink and Robyn Auscote winners 20-15, but the big win of Kerrie Darby, Angelo Alonso, Viv Grumley and Christine Piatek (26-11) proved pivotal for Lakes 6.
