The ladies from Sea Shanty in Myer Street got into the spirit of the Rocktober Rock n Roll Festival last weekend. The annual event attracted a large crowd to the region from Friday through to Sunday. More photos page 5.

The move to Myer Street proved to be a hit for the annual Rocktober Rock n Roll Festival, giving it a more contained feel which was well received by all last weekend.

Secretary of LE Rocks, Rima Pescod, said the ambience and atmosphere felt better and worked superbly.

“We couldn’t have asked for better weather and there was music, dancing, market stalls, plus everyone loved the car show and shine,” Rima said.

Myer Street was closed between The Esplanade and the roundabout giving the area a festive feel. This was enhanced by the Treblettes entertaining the crowds on Saturday and the Rhythm Rockers on the Sunday, along with dance exhibitions and a DJ.

“The popular dances at the Mechanics Hall on Friday and Saturday sold out within 24 hours of tickets going on sale with participants from New South Wales, Melbourne and even New Zealand joining in the fun,” Rima said.
