Registration for Lakes Entrance Surf Life Saving Club (SLSLE) Bronze Camp is open and instructor Jessica Woodward reports that, as always, it will be a huge but fun week in the lead up to our peak season on the beach.
“The training and assessment team are excited to train the next generation of local lifesavers,” she said.
Jessica, along with Lachlan Chester, are the chief instructors and Jessica is are now calling for participants to enrol. The Bronze Camp will be held from December 15 to 21. Candidates can register via the Surf Life Saving Lakes Entrance website.
This camp includes Surf Rescue Certificate 13 to 14-year-olds and Bronze Medallion 15 to 16-year-olds. Skills include first aid and resuscitation, as well as surf awareness and rescue operations.
“New and old faces are always welcome,” Jessica said.
The Nippers registrations is also open with beach training commencing Sunday, November 10, through to February 9. There will be swim assessments late October at the Lakes Entrance Aquadome. Pip McInnes is the person to contact with any enquiries.
Nippers is for children aged from seven to 14 and the club encourages families to get involved, whether it is on the beach or in the water. The club states it can be as much fun for the adults and the more help they get, the better the program for the children.
Club captain at SLSLE Eden McMillan said patrols will be on the beaches from Saturday, November 9, 2024, through to Monday, April 21, 2025, Saturdays 1-5pm and Sundays/Public holidays 10am to 5pm.
