Jay McGown from the Traralgon Harriers led the field home in last Saturday’s Lakes Entrance parkrun.
A healthy field of 58 set off on the weekly pilgrimage from the rotunda on the foreshore at 8am, tackling the five-kilometre event.
Impressively the field contained 23 first timers, none who could keep pace with McGown, who ran a personal best time of 19 minutes and 18 seconds.
He finished almost two minutes ahead of Nathan East (21.15) and Paul Etheridge (21.38).
The first woman across the line was again young Mia Calleja (22.17), her time six seconds faster than last week’s effort.
Two other personal best times were achieved including McGown’s wife, Samantha (42.32).
Representatives of eight different clubs took part, including Sale and District runners, Southern Peninsula Sports Club, Australia Post Group, Traralgon Harriers, Lakes and District runners, Running Mums Australia, Caboolture Road Runners and Slow Burners Running Group.
The weekly parkrun is all about participation, whether you choose to run, walk or jog.
