Robyn Downing lit up the course last Wednesday at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club, winning the weekly ladies event with an impressive 39 points.

Apola Weel continued her recent good form, winning “A” grade on count back from Brenda Wall.

A field of 42 players took to the course for Tuesday’s “Ruthless and Toothless” with the winners being Gary O’Neill and Ian Stephens.

Graham Watson shot the best score of the day, an impressive 41 off the stick, while Ron Baldock was the leading putter with just 15.

Thursday’s men’s competition was a par event, with 61 players chasing victory.

Barry Brand led the field home with a score of plus four, while Brett Greer was successful in “B” grade and Tony Varone was the winner in “C” grade.

The highlight of the round was Bernie Woodland’s eagle on the 17th.

Weel’s outstanding run continued on Saturday, winning the women’s stableford event with 37 points, on count back from Katrina Fearnely.

With spring upon us, the Lakes Entrance golf course is as always in magnificent condition, the envy of most courses in the state.
