It was an outstanding weekend of dance and achievements from four students at Jan Pianta School of Dance (JPSD) – Charli McInnes, Ella McInnes, Olivia McInnes and Iris Miller.
The four dancers recently competed in a range of styles, no more than five each, winning most of their sections, championship sections and then aggregate awards for the highest points again over the weekend of the August Gippsland Stars weekend of dance.
Charli – first place in the 11 year-old and under 13 categories – classical ballet, lyical/neo, demi character, contemporary and tap solos as well winning the Gippsland Star Championship trophy and aggregate award in her age section.
Ella – first place in the nine-year-old and under 11 categories – classical ballet, lyrical and demi character and third place in jazz solo, placing second in the Gippsland Star Championship and aggregate award for her age section.
Olivia – first place in all her five solos in classical ballet, jazz, tap, demi character and lyrical and aggregate award for the seven-year-old and under nine categories.
Iris Miller – first place in contemporary and jazz solo and received the adjudicators encouragement award in 13-year-old and under 15 categories with this award being specifically created for Iris on the day.
“The young dancers’ awards are simply outstanding for all dancers are preparing for a variety of dance exams,” Jan said.
