Last Wednesday Gippsland Lakes Complete Health (GLCH) shone the spotlight on its team of 32 early childhood educators, who play a crucial role in shaping the future learning, development, and wellbeing of children at their Children’s Centre in Lakes Entrance.

“Early Childhood Educators’ Day is dedicated to recognising and celebrating the invaluable work of early childhood educators,” Kate O’Meara, Children’s Centre Manager at GLCH, said.

Research consistently shows that children who engage in early learning perform better in school, particularly in literacy and numeracy, laying a strong foundation for future academic success. Additionally, early learning environments are essential for fostering social and emotional development, providing children with opportunities to interact with peers, develop empathy and learn cooperation and communication skills.

“Early childhood education is more than just preparation for school — it’s about nurturing the whole child,” Ms O’Meara said.

“When children have access to supportive, high-quality learning environments, they are more likely to thrive, both now and in the future.”

The early childhood educators at GLCH’s Children’s Centre are inspired every day by their love for children and the opportunity to be a reliable and trusted presence in their lives. They cherish helping children grow into their unique personalities and playing a critical role in shaping their cognitive, social and emotional development during their foundational years. Each day brings new challenges and rewards as they help children discover their potential through creative and impactful activities.

Many of their team members find personal fulfillment in their work, drawing inspiration from their experiences as parents and bringing the same joy and dedication to nurturing other children in a safe and supportive environment.

They are passionate about creating a safe, secure, and happy space for children to play and learn, ensuring that every child feels valued and cared for.

Early childhood education offers a rewarding and purpose-driven career. If you are passionate about making a difference in young lives and leaving a lasting impact on the next generation, contact GLCH.
