The State Government is ensuring students across East Gippsland will continue to have access to world-class facilities after maintenance works are carried out at local schools.

Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh last week announced four schools in East Gippsland are included in the Planned Maintenance Program (PMP), with funding for high priority maintenance across Victoria’s government school network.

Lakes Entrance Primary School will receive $686,343 in funds for clean down works as well as various repairs.

Bruthen Primary School has been allocated $531,882 for work on its Shelter-in-Place building, with roof works, structural works, and switchboard works set to take

place.

Bairnsdale Secondary College will receive $1.6m for ceiling repairs and roof works, repainting works, revarnishing, switchboard works, and repair of walls.

Works on Nicholson Primary’s Shelter-in-Place building will also take place, with $210,006 allocated to the school. This will allow them to undergo fascia replacement, repainting, and structural and roof works.

“Local students deserve the best facilities close to home. By upgrading and maintaining local schools, we are giving young people in East Gippsland the best chance of a quality education,” Mr McIntosh said.

The PMP provides funding to address high-priority maintenance across Victoria’s government school network.

Works are determined by a rolling facilities evaluation process, which provides up-to-date information on the condition of schools to create a faster and more targeted allocation of funding.

The government is building and upgrading the Education State so every student can access a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live.

“This program is about ensuring that every Victorian school is kept up-to-date, so that every child can access a high-quality education in a high-quality environment,” Minister for Education Ben Carroll said.

“We are constantly evaluating our schools and making sure every single classroom is safe, engaging, and will complement the top-class education we are committed to providing.”
