Lakes Entrance under 17 girls have locked in the East Gippsland netball minor premiership after accounting for Orbost Snowy by 10 goals last Saturday during round 16.
It was an even first quarter, the Seagulls knowing they needed to work hard to take the win.
With Lakes leading by three early on, a couple of turnovers enabled Orbost Snowy to turn the tables and take a one-goal advantage into quarter time.The second quarter felt a bit tense with it going goal-for-goal, but with the Seagulls starting to settle their game and converting, the top team was able to open the lead by six goals.
In the third term the Blues were able to close the lead in the beginning forcing Lakes to once again find the way to settle and play their smart game to take the lead by nine goals.
The Seagulls were able to hold onto the lead even with a few change ups.
Solid steady teamwork across the whole court saw the young Seagulls win by a convincing 10 goals.
Best players were Bonnie Rotheram and Makayla Grabham.
15 AND UNDER
After a rocky start, Lakes started to find its flow producing some lovely passages of play, but Orbost Snowy was accurate with its shooting and increased the lead to 11 at quarter time.
Emily O’Donnell and Lilly Eiseman worked well in the ring together, but a few mistakes provided turnovers making it tough for the Seagulls to stay within reach.
Taylah Alsop continued to work hard in centre and Charli Richardson was strong in defence, but the Blues were in control, leading by 20 at half time.
Orbost Snowy put the pressure on Lakes with a strong defence as Tulli Mcleod worked hard for the rebounds as goalkeeper and O’Donnell and Eiseman continued their teamwork in the ring, however the margin remained 20.
Lakes amped up its pressure in defence during the final quarter but Orbost Snowy continued its accurate shooting and was the better team on the day.
Best players were Charli Richardson and Tulli McLeod.
