Lakes Entrance Bowling Club star Julie Simpson has been named the Bowls Victoria player of the series after the recent three test series against New South Wales.
The three-day event was held at the St Johns Park Bowling Club in St Johns, with New South Wales victorious in the senior women’s event 2-1.
New South Wales took the first test 62-47, with Simpson leading her rink to 20-18 victory.
Victoria bounced back in the second test, coming from behind to snare a close encounter 55-54, Simpson going down 24-10.
The deciding third test was a tight affair with New South Wales just ahead for the majority of the match. It wasn’t until the latter stages that they were able to pull away to a 66-43 win, Simpson was again to the fore with a 17-15 win on her rink.
It was Simpson’s first tournament as a Victorian player, getting off to the ideal start, though victory in the series would have capped off a big three days.
