The Prostate Cancer Support Group of Lakes Entrance had a mighty response to Men’s Health Week.
The Central Hotel had a nail painting night which was supported heavily. Tyson and Alison Murphy from the Central said there were conversations around the bar about men’s health, the like of which they had not experienced before.
“Ewan from Big Bears Donuts supplied donuts with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia logo on them and they sold out over the weekend,” group leader Moss Mahoney said.
“Ewan went and had a PSA test during the week and put out a video about the experience and how easy it was.
“Shoreline Real Estate’s owners and staff all had nails painted to start and maintain a conversation in the community.
“Lakes Hardware supports everything. Owners John and Leanne and staff members painted up to get the men’s health message out.
“We have bookings to visit some local clubs in the coming weeks to keep the message travelling. The group spoke at the a regional men’s shed conference last week and have forged strong links with other regional sheds in Gippsland.”
Moss said the message is simple – “Talk to your doctor about getting your PSA tested. A PSA test is a simple blood test.”
