Two impressive wins by the Lakes Entrance under 15s and 13s in round nine has seen both consolidate their place inside the top four of the East Gippsland Junior Football Association.
The under 13s faced a tough assignment against the third-ranked Lucknow, who got home by 12 points the first time the sides met back in round two.
Lakes led narrowly at quarter time, before the Magpies lifted the intensity to make the running through the two middle quarters, Lucknow leading by three points at the final change.
The Seagulls had plenty of scoring opportunities in the first three quarters but struggled with efficiency around the sticks, while the Magpies had been frugal and made better use of the football in the forward 50.
Lakes Entrance played its best football in the final term, kicking three unanswered goals to win by 15 points.
Cooper Kennedy led the way up forward with three goals, while Jeremy Rotheram was again prominent with two.
The win gives the young Seagulls plenty of confidence, with Lucknow seen as a likely elimination final opponent.
Best players for Lakes Entrance were Rotheram, Kennedy, Keanu Brown, Makayla Sowden, Lochie Yates and Jacob Silver.
In the under 15s, the second ranked Seagulls made short work of cellar dweller Lucknow.
Lakes Entrance kicked eight unanswered first half goals to win convincingly by 50 points.
Oscar Hopkins had a day out up forward kicking five goals, while Thomas Graham and Kye Piper both slotted three, with Leroy Hayes chipping in with a couple.
Among the best for the Seagulls were Archer Connally, Hopkins, Hayes, Harley Young, Lachlan Ymer and Piper.
