Homelessness Week has been running since Monday and it is important for everyone to know about the growing number of people who don’t have secure housing, which has become a serious issue in the Lakes Entrance area.
This year’s theme is “It’s time to end homelessness”.
The cost-of-living crisis has devastated housing affordability, leaving more people, including families and, at the last census, 6800 children without a home.
To relieve this emergency, Victoria needs 6000 more social housing properties each year.
There has been a campaign created in which members of the public take a photo of themselves with an origami house they have made and share to #HousesAtParliament.
