Metung certainly brought the heat over the weekend, kicking off the East Gippsland Winter Festival with Fire and Ice on the Metung Village Green.
A significant crowd gathered on Saturday, June 10, to watch Wacky Wombat entertaining and mesmerising the crowd with jaw-dropping fire breathing and a juggling show, and ice carving by Glenn Smith of Ice Designs Australia.
A number of local community groups also got involved, with the Metung CFA showing children the fire tanker and giving them the opportunity to hop in and wear a fire hat.
Metung Primary School had a stall selling hot chocolates, glow sticks and hand made paper lanterns.
Nungurner Primary School had a sausage sizzle, along with a variety of homemade soups.
