Local caravan parks are reporting since Christmas Day they have been operating at full capacity.
They have welcomed back their return guests plus a large number of first timers to Lakes Entrance and Lake Tyers Beach for what has been a bumper season thus far.
John and Kelly Leicester, who are in their first year as managers at Big Four Waters Edge Caravan Park, are loving their role.
“We have customers who have been coming for the past 10 years saying this year is bigger than it has ever been, both in the park and around town,” John said.
“All areas of the park have been popular including the pool, jumping pillow, camp kitchen and the fish cleaning amenities. The sites are nice and grassy and there’s plenty of parking.
“They are all happy campers,” he said.

They all stay at Koonwarra Park and have noticed a very different atmosphere around town this year. “Everybody is just so happy this year,” Wendy said. The family was all out riding their bikes along the Esplanade. “I have four children here with their partners and 19 grandchildren,” she said.
