Upper House Member for Eastern Victoria, Minister for Water, Minister for Regional Development and Minister for Equality, Harriet Shing, visited Lakes Entrance on Monday with newly endorsed Labor Party candidate for Gippsland East, Stephen Richardson.
Mr Richardson, a well known member of the Swifts Creek and broader communities, has recently been appointed to the candidacy for the seat of Gippsland East, currently occupied by the Nationals Tim Bull, and has embarked on a campaign to give people a choice when it comes to election day.
“I have lived in East Gippsland my whole life and was educated at Swifts Creek primary and secondary schools. I did an apprenticeship in Melbourne but then returned home to run an electrical contracting business for 30 years,” he said.
Stephen is also involved in farming and understands the problems and complexities of this industry.
“The farming sector has been underrepresented in all levels of government, I have spent my whole time in the agricultural sector unlike the Nationals candidates who are desk-based,” he said.
