What a memorable visit it was with more than 300 Daniher’s Drive participants congregating in Lakes Entrance last Friday for a night of fine dining and entertainment at a gala event at St Brendan’s Hall.
The contingent then stopped for breakfast on the Esplanade on Saturday morning before forming a convoy out of town to entertain those community members who had come along to welcome and support the drive which raised funds for FightMND, a cause championed by AFL great Neale Daniher.
“In contrast to other parts of the state, we were very fortunate to have Gippsland turn on the weather and people turned out to support the cause, overwhelming us with their generosity,” FightMND chief executive officer, Fiona McIntosh, said.
More than 80 cars traversed Gippsland on an amended route, making the best of the Victorian weather, and raising awareness and funds for FightMND.
“We planned this route way back after the bushfires and we felt that it was our responsibility to stay that course and support those communities that have been doing it tough,” FightMND campaign director, Bec Daniher, said.
