The erection of ‘no bicycle’ signs along the Jemmys Point path leading down into the Lakes Entrance township has caused much consternation among the public, particularly those living in the Kalimna area.
Residents are upset the signs have been erected instead of fixing the problem of a dangerous footpath.
“The state of the footpath is terrible, plus the guard rail, there is no lighting, it needs a major overhaul of the path and the road,” one resident said.
Another user of the path said the cracks have been filled with a resin which was meant to flatten with use, but this is not occurring and it still is creating dangerous ridges in the surface.
One parent lamented that her children would ride down the path to attend sporting events and others ride to school.
