There was a lot of enthusiastic but slightly apprehensive people at the Myer Street Jetty on Saturday morning readying themselves to jump in the lake.
Gippsland Jersey held a Solstice Sip and Plunge event as part of the East Gippsland Winter Festival and a large group of volunteers took the jump claiming there is nothing more rejuvenating than a plunge in the Gippsland Lakes during winter.
“Gippsland Jersey advocates strongly for better mental health and this is great way to kick the winter blues, anxiety and depression straight in the teeth,” a representative said.
In conjunction with the Lakes Entrance Life Saving Club, this winter Sip and Plunge lived up to its promise to be exhilarating and memorable. There were prizes for those able to stay in the water the longest, without a wetsuit.
