Respected Gunai Elder, Marjorie Thorpe, is contesting the Federal seat of Gippsland during the forthcoming election.
A Lake Tyers resident, Ms Thorpe is representing the Australian Greens in contesting the seat against the current sitting member, Darren Chester, from the National Party.
As a Greens candidate, Ms Thorpe is passionate about advocating for the environment.
She says the health and protection of forests, native vegetation, rivers and the animals, is key to social wellbeing.
