Fourteen-handicapper Danny Lyons claimed overall honours in Saturday’s medley stableford at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club, posting 39 points to secure victory in “B” grade.
Lyons won by a narrow margin over “C” grade victor Gerard Kelly, “D” grade winner Ruth McPhee, and “A” grade winner Rick Murray, who all finished tied close behind on the leaderboard.
Earlier in the week, Mitchell Naylor delivered a standout performance in Thursday’s competition, taking out “A” grade and overall honours with a commanding 40 points. Naylor finished five points clear of runner-up Kelly, while Brad Hay (33 points) and Terry Williams (34 points) claimed “B” and “C” grades respectively.
Wednesday’s medley stableford featured the performance of the week, with perennial ladies club champion Renee Percival firing a stellar 42 points. Percival shot 73 off the stick to equal her career-best gross score. Lori Murray also turned in an impressive round with 41 points, taking out “B” grade.
In Tuesday’s Ruthless and Toothless competition, Stuart Symes clinched “A” grade on a countback from John Heaton, while Tony Fedat secured “B” grade by two shots ahead of Gary Knox and Daryl Brassil.
In the Young and the Rest of Us event, Ann Furhy edged out the field to win by a single shot over runners-up Rhonda Beckett and Lorna Tiziani.
Club management reminds all members and visitors of their ongoing obligation to repair pitch marks on the greens, replace divots and thoroughly rake bunkers after play.
